Reese McCulloch previews Glasgow Women test

Reese McCulloch looks ahead to this weekend’s clash with Glasgow Women.

While 24 points separate the teams going into this fixture, previous meetings between the sides have been very close.

As well as twice sharing the points, Killie have managed to grab one victory, holding off Andy Gardner’s side in February during a nervy final 30 minutes in Motherwell.

So what does McCulloch expect this time around?

“It’ll be a tough game so we need to do what we’ve been doing recently. If we focus on ourselves and do what we’ve been doing in previous weeks then we will give ourselves a chance.

“The fact that we are playing at Rugby Park will help us. Touch wood, but we’ve not lost at Rugby Park as of yet this season. I don’t know if I should say that though! We’ve drawn a few games but the majority of games, we’ve won. So hopefully that will give us an advantage.

“Glasgow are a tough side – we’ve drawn with them twice and managed a 3-2 win up there. It’ll be a hard game but we just need to focus on us.”

Defender McCulloch is ready for the challenge the visitors will offer but remains cautious due to the unpredictable nature of previous matches between the sides.

“The last time we played them, they went with two up front but one of them dropped in quite deep and it was quite difficult to play against when we played a three at the back. She made quite a few good runs and we got caught out a few times. So I think the back three need to focus on that.

“They actually changed quite a lot of their players so the players we played against after Christmas weren’t the same ones the defence played against in the first half of the season. They rotate their squad quite a lot, so you never really know what you’ll be up against with them.”
