Hibernian (A) | Pre-match: David Watson

David Watson previews our trip to Easter Road below.

How pleased have you been for some of the substitutes who haven’t had as much game time to come on and make such an impact?

Yeah, it’s brilliant. It just shows the mental strength of the squad, even if you’re not playing. When you come on, you make an impact, and it shows the depth of the squad we have as well.

For example, there’s so many games in the next two weeks or so, and we’ve got the types of players that can come on and do a job and score goals.

What are you expecting from Hibs?

It’s always the same at Hibs, Easter Road is a big park It’s always a good experience, a good atmosphere, so it’s just an exciting prospect for us to go up there and play, and hopefully we’ll get three points.

Was the Aberdeen game the team’s best performance of the season?

Yeah, that’s best performance. It was a full 90-minute performance, and hopefully we’ll take that into the game against Hibs.

I feel like against Motherwell as well, it was a good performance. We just missed that finishing touch, and on Thursday we found it, and that’s why we done so well, everything was there.

As you go into Easter Road, you’re almost within touching distance now of the top-six, do you feel with the squad you’ve got, what you achieved last season, and that’s really what you should be competing for?

Yeah, definitely, we showed on Thursday what we can do, and everybody’s confident, and hopefully we can build up a wee bit of momentum going into the next few games.

And from your own point of view, you’ve achieved such a lot in this calendar year, but do you still feel yourself with something to prove, to cement that place every week in the team?

Yeah, you’ve always got something to prove, there’s healthy competition, you’ve seen it, boys coming off the bench and their scoring goals, so there’s always competition, which I love anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

That’s something I relish, every day in training, playing against good players, and being able to improve and learn from them, because they’ve got more experience than me, it’s something I take on board.
