Aberdeen 0 Kilmarnock 0
Kilmarnock picked up their first point of the Scottish Premiership season with a goalless stalemate at Pittodrie.
And it was only Aberdeen’s goalkeeper pulling off two or three top saves to prevent Killie from taking all three back to Ayrshire.
After a calm and composed start by Killie, they fashioned the first chance with Greg Kiltie finding time and space to get a shot away from the edge of the box. Unfortunately, the ball whistled just past the post as Muller scrambled to reach it.
It was Killie who continued to threaten. Tom Lowery had an effort well-blocked in front of goal after meeting an Erik Ring cutback.
After more sustained pressure by the visitors, against the run of play, Yogane hit the post for Aberdeen with an attempted cross on 39 minutes.
After the break, Max Stryjek was forced into his first big action of the game, getting down low well to a header that was met at a Dons corner to prevent an opener.
Killie withstood from pressure from the hosts, as they looked to come out firing after half time. Ring had a curled effort deflected wide for a corner. The resultant corner was taken short between Kiltie and Ring, with the ball swung in brilliantly for Cathal McCarthy to meet, as he forced Muller into another top save to prevent a Killie goal.
Kiltie was then denied at point-blank range by Muller to stop a certain goal for Killie on 69 minutes in what was an outstanding save. The goalkeeper then had to stand firm to top an Aaron Tshibola free kick over the crossbar.
The defence had to remain switched on and resolute. George Stanger – who was imperious throughout – made a vital block to prevent Cadden get a shot on target from inside the box.
Tshibola was sent off on 82 minutes for a second bookable offence.
In the end, Killie saw out the closing stage with 10 men relatively comfortably for a hard-fought point on the road.
