Boss: We’re up for the cup
Angelo Alessio says the Betfred Cup is a ‘target’ for him, following Saturday’s fine 1-0 win over Hamilton Accies.
It was the late, late show at Rugby Park after Dom Thomas scored deep into extra time to book Killie’s spot in the last eight of the Betfred Cup.
The manager was thrilled at reaching the quarter-final, and hopes his team can kick on from here.
“The cup is our target for the season. We play to go in the next in the next round,” he told Killie TV.
“It was important to to win the game for everyone. For the team, for the club. Of course now we have to work a lot and look to improve our performance.”
Dom will deservedly hog the headlines for his stunning winner, but the gaffer was keen to point out that every single player played their part today.
“I think the team today play a good game but at the start were maybe a little bit nervous. That’s normal but it’s important to not concede a goal,” he explained.
“Dom came on to the pitch for us and did a good job. I want it known that all substitutes today. Dicker, because he is captain, played very well. Kiltie and Miller too.
“I think this game is important for this, I try to do what’s best for the team and I’m happy with the result and the right attitude from the subs.”
