Ayrshire Cancer Support Join The Killie Family
Kilmarnock FC are proud to welcome Ayrshire Cancer Support as the newest members of the club’s growing family of charity partners.
Ayrshire Cancer Support aims to improve the quality of life for those living with cancer by ensuring that support is readily available throughout the county. The charity has operated across the region for more than 40 years, delivering emotional support and practical help to local people affected by the illness, with all of their services provided free of charge.
Centres in Kilmarnock and Ayr offer a wide range of essential services, including counselling, support groups and complementary therapies, which are all delivered within a caring environment. A dedicated team of volunteer drivers also provide thousands of patients with vital transport to and from hospitals across Glasgow and Ayrshire.
The new partnership will see Ayrshire Cancer Support form Kilmarnock FC’s newest charity link, joining the Killie Community and Crosshouse Children’s Fund which have driven the club’s charity-based activity for a number of years.
Strengthening vital links across the community, the club proudly supports its valued charity partners through fundraising and awareness activities, with the purpose of making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals in Ayrshire.
The Killie Community continues to lead the club’s charitable outreach through a wide variety of programmes designed to engage and inspire locals through the power of football.
Phyllis McLeish, Managing Director of Kilmarnock FC, commented: “Through our current charity partnerships, we have witnessed first-hand the power of football and the positive influence our club has on the community.
“We’re now extremely proud to have the chance to grow the Killie family by welcoming another treasured charity that has provided such a comfort to so many people across the region.
“Ayrshire Cancer Support has been a precious pillar of support for countless individuals and families in our local area for several decades, and we look forward to shining a spotlight on their incredible contribution to the community.”
Sandra McCall, Chief Executive of Ayrshire Cancer Support, added: “We are delighted and incredibly grateful to Kilmarnock FC for this generous opportunity to join their family of charity partners.
“With one in two people affected by cancer in the UK, our services have never been more needed and as a local charity we rely on our corporate partners to help us raise awareness of the free support we offer to local communities across Ayrshire.
“We look forward to working together to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and adults affected by cancer in Ayrshire.”
Professor Ian Welsh OBE, Board Member of Ayrshire Cancer Support and former Kilmarnock FC player, added: “As Ayrshire’s leading cancer charity, providing practical help and emotional support to people affected by cancer, we are delighted to partner with Kilmarnock FC as their charity partner. Killie has a fine record of community engagement, community programmes and corporate social responsibility and we look forward to working with them in a range of innovative ways to raise awareness, develop much-needed income streams and build direct connections with supporters whose lives have been touched by cancer.”
