Getting to know Under-19s captain Mitchell Spence
Under-19s captain, Mitchell Spence, spoke to the Killie Magazine this month, continuing our focus on improving coverage at all levels of the club.
Position: Left Back.
Age: 17.
Year signed for Killie: I joined in 2018 originally as part of the younger academy, then 2026 professionally
Previous clubs: Milngavie Boys Club.
Best memory in football: It has to be winning the Scottish Youth Cup at Hampden – it was a great experience and something I’ll always remember, along with my teammates.
Football idol: I’ve always been a huge Lionel Messi fan, even though I’m a left back!
Biggest ambition: Hopefully make my professional debut and to make a career out of football.
Best mate in football: Remo Margiotta because we travel together and spend a lot of time in each other’s company.
Biggest joker in the changing room: Easy. That would be Archie Traynor.
Worst dress sense: Kali Fraser without a doubt. Absolutely terrible!
Best advice you’ve ever received: ‘Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.’ It taught me that even though I may be talented, I always need to work even harder to make myself better.
