Falkirk 3 Kilmarnock 0

Kilmarnock suffered defeat on the road at The Falkirk Stadium.

Neil McCann’s men were on the wrong end of the 3-0 scoreline, where two own goals and a Murrell effort was enough for the hosts to claim all three points.

In extremely blustery conditions ahead of Saturday night’s storm, both teams understandably found it challenging to get a foot hold in the game. The wind continually caught the flight of the ball and wickedly changed its direction, making it hard to gain control.

The hosts drew first blood on 28 minutes, though. Murrell got on the end of a cross deep towards the back post. His header looked like an easy gather for Calum Ferrie, but the ball deflected in off Cathal McCarthy in unfortunate fashion to gift Falkirk the advantage.

However, it wasn’t long by they did double their lead. This time there was no debate – Murrell headed home, with the ball kissing the underside of the bar, after an out swung corner.

We came close to an equaliser as the ball cannoned off the crossbar following a dangerous Tom Lowery cross. Moments later, Ross tested Ferrie with a zinged effort inside the box, but the keeper did well to parry wide.

Into the second-half, things didn’t improve from a Killie perspective. George Stanger scored an own goal on 67 minutes as the hosts added a third.
