Run With Reilly to Rugby Park 2027
Kilmarnock Football Club legend Mark Reilly is set to lace up his running shoes once again for a very special challenge that invites supporters and to do their bit in aid of Reverse Rett and The Killie Community.
To mark the 30th anniversary of Kilmarnock’s historic 1997 Scottish Cup triumph, Reilly will take on an inspirational run from Ibrox Stadium (starting position tbc) to Rugby Park on Sunday, 23rd May 2027, raising funds for two causes incredibly close to his heart: The Killie Community and Reverse Rett.
The former midfielder, who spent 11 seasons across two spells with the club and remains one of the most beloved figures from that famous cup-winning side, says the event is about giving something back to the club, the supporters and the wider community that have meant so much to him throughout his life.
“My time at Kilmarnock was the best and most enjoyable period of my football career,” said Reilly. “The club and the supporters have always meant so much to me, and I wanted to do something to give back to the local community in Kilmarnock.”
The challenge will also continue Reilly’s remarkable fundraising efforts for Reverse Rett, a charity he has supported since 2012 through a series of gruelling endurance events around the world.
The cause is deeply personal to Mark and his family. His daughter, Dionne, was diagnosed with Rett syndrome in 2011, a rare neurological condition that affects brain development and can leave sufferers unable to walk, talk or use their hands independently.
“Reverse Rett is a charity that means everything to me and my family,” Reilly added. “Since Dionne’s diagnosis, I’ve tried to do whatever I can to raise awareness and funds to help support families and research.”
Supporters are now being encouraged to register their interest in taking part in the event, whether that means joining Mark for a short section of the route or tackling the full journey from Glasgow to Ayrshire.
“Everybody is welcome to come along and join me,” said Reilly. “Whether that’s for part of the route or the full distance, it would be fantastic to see as many Killie supporters there as possible as we celebrate such a special anniversary together.”
At this stage, we are looking to gauge levels of interest before confirming final route details, participation options and event logistics.
Further information, including route details, timings, fundraising guidance and participant information, will be announced in due course.
Supporters interested in taking part, whether running or volunteering, are encouraged to complete the registration of interest form below.
