March 28 2023 Players and sponsors ‘hit it off’ at annual club golf day
Kilmarnock Football Club’s annual golf day saw players and management link up with sponsors on the sun-kissed fairways of Trump Turnberry on Monday 27th March 2023.
Guests were welcomed to a spectacular day on the Scottish coast, which provided perfect conditions for a team morale boosting day in the sun during the international break.
Following a warm reception and induction from the clubhouse’s Director of Golf, Ricky Hall, the players and coaching staff were paired up with sponsors; captaining 22 groups that contested over 18 holes in a Texas Scramble matchplay event.
After rounding up on the pristine greens, the golfers were treated to a two-course meal before Club Ambassador, Ray Montgomerie, announced the all-important award winners.
Kilmarnock Manager Derek McInnes led by example, driving to the top of the leaderboard with his winning team from James Frew LTD. Topping off an impressive group performance from Scotland’s leading property solutions company, Roddy Frew was presented with the ‘Golfer of the Day’ award. Meanwhile, Derek McInnes became the first manager since Jim Jefferies to secure the coveted Colin Campbell Trophy, which is awarded to the winning Kilmarnock FC squad or staff member.
A number of other awards were presented in Trump Turnberry’s Champions Suite, including:
- Longest drive on the 18th: Patrick McGuckin (Inspirited)
- Nearest the pin on the 6th: Euan Clark (Ashleigh Construction)
- 3rd place: Inspirited (captained by Brad Lyons)
- 2nd place: Active office (captained by Jordan Jones)
- 1st place: James Frew LTD (captained by Derek McInnes)
- Golfer of the Day: Roddy Frew
- Colin Campbell Trophy: Derek McInnes
- Squad Player of the Day: Jordan Jones
