McInnes: ‘let’s do something that will be remembered’
Derek McInnes has challenged his side to ‘achieve something that they’ll be remembered for’ as the team prepare for a Viaplay Cup quarter-final tie against Hearts on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to press on Monday, the manager commented: “Once you get into the quarter-final stage, you’re two games away from competing in a cup final. It’s important that we sniff it and take the opportunity. I keep saying that to the players: while we’re here and while we’re working at Kilmarnock, let’s go and do something that we will be remembered for.
“Tomorrow night we’re going to have to turn up. While Hearts haven’t scored too many goals this season, they certainly haven’t conceded a lot either. We’ve got to make sure that we’re good in both boxes. We’ll be treating the game like the cup tie that it is.
“The opportunity is there: we’ll be ready, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
