Match report: St Mirren 0-5 Kilmarnock (Under 18s)
A five-star Kilmarnock performance secured a dominant 5-0 victory against St Mirren Under 18s in Paisley.
It took just five minutes for Killie to go in front as Shay McKeown took down the ball well on the edge of the box before smashing into the roof of the net.
Reuben Cooper had a good chance 14 minutes in as he attempted to fire home from a few yards out, St Mirren goalkeeper Grant Tamosevicius was equal to it with a strong hand.
Duncan Barlow jumped highest from a free-kick as he looked to score with a header, but he fired wide of the post after 23 minutes.
Cole Burke looked certain to score four minutes later as he worked towards goal to get one-on-one with Tamosevicius, but the Saints No 1 stood tall and saved the shot from inside the box.
Saints had two decent chances from corners just after the half-hour mark with Lyle Hunter seeing a volley saved, before Owen Carey fired over from six yards.
Archie Traynor finished well after an audacious lob from Cole Burke smacked the post in the 52nd minute, giving Killie a 2-0 lead.
After 65 minutes it was three as Burke did well to smash an effort low into the far corner from just inside the area.
McKeown bagged a brace when he made it it four from a rebound after Burke’s long range shot was parried by the goalkeeper.
And then Burke also bagged a double when he fired home a powerful finish after 83 minutes.
