Match report: Queen of the South Reserves (H)

Kilmarnock’s reserves picked up a resounding 6-0 win against Queen of the South at Rugby Park.
A youthful side, which also included Corrie Ndaba for the opening 45 minutes, were victorious over their Dumfries opponents.

Kian Leslie had a good chance after five minutes as he had a nice run down the wing before cutting inside and curling a shot, but it fell narrowly wide.

Five minutes later Leslie had a very similar move, this time the shot was blazed over the crossbar.

Billy Gray had a fantastic chance after 12 minutes for the hosts as he thundered a shot which looked to be heading into the top corner, but much to Aidan Glavin’s relief it smacked the woodwork.

Samuel Duruh fired Killie in front from the penalty spot in the 20th minute – he was fouled himself before grabbing the ball and smashing it into the right-hand corner.

Cole Burke then doubled the hosts’ lead six minutes later as he finished off well with a curling effort into the corner after a fine run from Leslie.

Duruh then saw his shot turned in for an own goal on the half-hour mark to make it 3-0.

Captain Ethan Brown then headed home from a corner three minutes before the break to send Killie into half-time four goals to the good.

Leslie went close again in the 48th minute, his shot this time going narrowly wide from the edge of the box, then had yet another chance from a similar range, this one saved well by Charlie Cowie down low.

Reuben Cooper pulled off a lovely turn to beat his man inside the area before a calm and collected finish to make it 5-0 after 56 minutes.

Cooper then doubled his tally with a stunning curling effort from outside the area in the 73rd minute.
