Match report: Kilmarnock 2-1 Hamilton (Under 18s)

Kilmarnock Under 18s picked up an important victory at home to Hamilton on Friday night.

The Ayrshire side raced into a two-goal lead at half-time, before the visitors pulled one back early in the second half.

But Killie did well to secure three points in the CAS Elite League clash.

Samuel Duruh fired Killie ahead after great work from Archie Traynor as the hosts went ahead after 8 minutes.

Accies almost equalised a minute later as their No 10 fired a powerful effort from 20 yards, it flew over the crossbar though.

Cooper Eaglesham had a good chance in the 18th minute as he looked to take advantage of Hamilton’s goalkeeper coming out of his area, but the No 1 recovered well to save a curling effort from the young Killie winger.

Eaglesham then did get on the scoresheet just before the half-hour mark, a nice finish from close range rounded off a good move and cross from Ben Brannan.

Hamilton started the second half brighter and they pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through a powerful header.

The visitors had a good chance with a low shot in the 66th minute, but Ben Coutts was equal to it as he tipped it on to the crossbar and out.

Duruh worked his way through on goal in the 75th minute, he looked sure to double his tally but a Hamilton defender did well to take the sting out of the effort.

Grant Marchant tried his luck with a free-kick from 25 yards out, the young Hamilton goalkeeper got down well to save and hold on to it.
