Match report: Hibernian 1-0 Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock ended 2024 in disappointing fashion with a 1-0 defeat away to Hibernian.
Nectar Triantis’s first half header was enough to secure the points for the Hibees.
It was an unchanged XI for Derek McInnes following their 4-0 Boxing Day win against Aberdeen.
Junior Hoilett looked sure to send Hibs ahead in the 11th minute as he had pretty much an open goal, but he couldn’t find the target as he steered it wide of the post from close range.
Bobby Wales had a chance up the other end almost instantly, he fired a low shot at goal but it was saved by Jordan Smith.
Nicky Cadden had a good chance after 24 minutes, his shot across goal was well blocked out for a corner, but unfortunately for Killie that led to the first goal.
Triantis headed home from close range from the resulting set-piece to give Hibs the lead.
Corrie Ndaba whipped a teasing cross into the area in the 38th minute, David Watson stuck out a leg but didn’t quite reach it.
Chances were at a premium as the second half started, but Killie were dealt a blow just after the hour mark when Danny Armstrong was shown red for an apparent second yellow offence.
Killie pushed to get themselves level, but it just wasn’t to be as the Hibees ensured the Ayrshire side were heading home empty-handed in the final match of 2024.
