Killie Reserves 0-0 Greenock Morton Reserves
Kilmarnock Reserves were held to their first goalless draw of the campaign by Greenock Morton in a dour stalemate at Rugby Park.
Connor Johnson, Adam Frizzell and Stephen Hendrie were among the first-team players in the ranks against the visitors from Inverclyde, and with four wins out of five under their belt so far – it represented a fine opportunity to put pressure on Hearts Reserves and Ross County in table.
Killie moved the ball well, and arguably, looked the better side in the first 45: with Iain Wilson and Olly McDonald having the best chances, with ‘Ton keeper Wylie looking in decent form.
The second-half began with a bang, 53 minutes on the clock and Morton were awarded a penalty after Johnson was judged to have fouled Shaun Rodgers in the box – but the resulting effort was saved by captain Curtis Lyle.
Kyle Connell looked sharp, the former Blackburn Rovers kid showing good intelligence to make the most of the space in front of him – but his constant probing yielded no reward.
There was to be no goals though, and Killie will walk away frustrated at their first draw of the campaign.
