Kilmarnock 2 Motherwell 1 U19s CAS Elite League

Kilmarnock Under-19s were 2-1 winners against Motherwell this afternoon.

Taking to Bowie Park – the club’s new training facility – for the first time in competitive action, albeit played behind closed, Kris Doolan’s men went in search of a third successive victory, having already defeated Hibernian and St Mirren on the road previously in the CAS Elite League.

Killie took a 1-0 advantage in at the break, with the pacey Noah Simpson cutting in from the left brilliantly to guide the ball beyond Motherwell’s goalkeeper for the opener during the first-half.

After the interval, as the rain lashed down, Killie very nearly made it two with Cole Bickerton unlucky to see his shot well-saved by the keeper down low to his left after a brilliant counter by the hosts.

Midway through the second-half, the Steelmen’s young guns equalised after a mix-up at the back between Bickerton and Armour.

However, after numerous subs for both sides with the game heading towards a finish, Bickerton would find Killie’s second, and the winning goal of the game, by latching onto a through-ball inside the box, firing high into the net, as Killie claimed another three points.
