A youthful Kilmarnock reserve side defeated another youthful side Airdrieonians in the SPFL Reserve Cup.
Bobby Wales had a great chance after 6 minutes when he latched on to a Cole Burke cross, Wales saw his shot blocked, and Ben Brannan was unlucky with the rebound.
Lewis Mackle almost looped a header into the net, he couldn’t quite keep it down as he saw his effort hit the crossbar.
Wales finished well for the opener after just 9 minutes, and he doubled his money two minutes later to make it 2-0.
Reuben Cooper then made it 3-0 in the 13th minute with some nice skill before a cool finish, he then grabbed his brace too four minutes later to make it 4-0.
Captain Ethan Brown then added another after 25 minutes as he headed well from a corner to make it 5-0.
Cole Burke made it six after half-hour with a fine low finish before Ruari Ellis turned it home from close range to make it 7-0 after 34 minutes.
Cooper had the ideal chance for his hat-trick a minute later as he found himself one-on-one with Liam Prunty – but the Diamonds goalkeeper did well to save and Samuel Duruh fired wide from the rebound.
Wales bagged his hat-trick just before the break to make it a comfortable 8-0 at half-time.
Samuel Duruh kept the goals up into the second half as 10 minutes after the break he made it 9-0.
Brannan went close in the 70th minute with an outside of the foot effort – it whizzed narrowly past the post. Wales could have added his fourth a couple of minutes later with a free header, he couldn’t quite find the target though.
Wales then had another fantastic chance in the 75th minute with a fine turn before smashing a powerful effort off the post.
Brannan grabbed a goal for himself in the 84th minute as he made it 10-0 with a cool curling finish.
