Match report: Hearts 1-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock secured a fantastic comeback victory in Gorgie.

Alan Forrest fired the Capital side ahead just before half-time – but a quickfire pair of goals from Matty Kennedy and Kyle Vassell sealed three points in Edinburgh.

Derek McInnes made two changes from our defeat in Dingwall as Stuart Findlay and Liam Donnelly made way for Joe Wright and David Watson.

Blair Spittal had a great chance after nine minutes as he striuck a low shot at goal from 20 yards, but it was well saved by Robby McCrorie who got down well to tip it wide.

Kyle Vassell did well working towards goal after 18 minutes, he lifted it over Craig Gordon but it was blocked off the line before Matty Kennedy could latch on to it.

A clever low corner from Matty Kennedy found Danny Armstrong on the edge of the box in the 39th minute, he fired a shot on target, but it was saved low by Craig Gordon.

Kennedy whipped a cross into the box two minutes later, Marley Watkins jumped highest but his header flew over the crossbar.

Hearts found themselves in front just before half-time as Alan Forrest fired home at the back post to send the hosts into the break ahead.

Lawrence Shankland looked sure to double Hearts’ lead after 57 minutes, but his shot from close range was fired over the crossbar.

The away end erupted just before the hour mark when Kennedy smashed home a venomous shot from the side of the box to level the scores.

And it then went crazy four minutes later as Vassell slammed home to fire the visitors ahead.
