Match report: St Johnstone (H)
Kilmarnock suffered a disappointing defeat at home to St Johnstone to make it two losses from as many league games this season.
A much-changed side from our clash against Tromso offered the side a respite in terms of fresh legs from the start, but a horror start which saw Killie go a goal down and a man down in the opening 16 minutes set the tone for the afternoon.
It took the visitors just three minutes to get themselves in front as Adama Sidibeh capitalised on the defence not dealing with the ball in the box, the Saints striker poked home from close range.
Things went from bad to worse for Killie when Joe Wright picked up a second yellow card after just 16 minutes following a rash challenge, which then forced Derek McInnes into an early change with Rory McKenzie making way for Lewis Mayo.
Brad Lyons had a good chance just after the half-hour mark, he latched on to a Danny Armstrong cross but he couldn’t keep his resulting shot from the edge of the box down.
However shortly after, Saints doubled their lead and it was Sidibeh who doubled his money with an all too easy finish from 10 yards.
Stuart Findlay leapt highest at a corner just after the hour mark to power a header, but unfortunately for the centre back it flew over the crossbar.
Brad Lyons went incredibly close in the 71st minute with a low, fizzing shot, but it went inches wide of the post.
Danny Armstrong was screaming for a penalty in the 77th minute, but he was booked for an apparent dive, and after a lengthy VAR check no change was made to the decision.
Saints then went up the other end to get a penalty of their own, which was converted by Benjamin Kimpioka.
