Kilmarnock ensured passage through to the last-16 of the Premier Sports Cup, and topped Group H with a goalless draw at Peterhead.

The hosts claimed the bonus point with 5-4 victories in a penalty shootout, which was essentially meaningless with Kille already through to the knockout stages of the competition.

Neil McCann’s side smacked the woodwork on several occasion. Mark O’Hara, Tom Lowery and Tyreece John-Jules were all denied by the posts or crossbar, as Ayrshire’s finest tried but failed to find the net.

Euan Bowie – in for his first competitive start – saw an effort well-saved by the Peterhead goalkeeper, while Joe Hugill and Greg Kiltie also went close with efforts going just by the post.

Aaron Tshibola came off the bench for his first time back on the pitch since re-signing for the club. He looked to pick up where he left off with dictating the play.

At the other end, Max Stryjek had to be alert to pull off a decent save to prevent Peterhead from scoring, while Smith later missed a golden chance when through one-on-one with the Pole, but fluffed his shot.

Hugill, John-Jules, Kiltie and Tshibola scored in the shootout for Killie, while Roshaun Mathurin’s spot kick was saved, as Peterhead claimed an additional point.
