A local, bereaved father is taking on a huge challenge to raise funds for the charity that has helped him turn his life “completely around”.
In August 2022, Killie fan, Ben Montgomery, passed away following his fight with cancer, aged just 20 years old.
Using Ben as his inspiration, his father, Scott, took it upon himself to battle his own physical and mental health challenges with The Killie Community. He has since lost over 5 stone and aims to complete the full 22.6 miles of ‘The Mighty Stride’ of The Kiltwalk on Sunday 28th April 2024.
Starting The Killie Community’s wellbeing programmes, Scott benefitted from The SPFL Trust’s Football Fans in Training, the NHS’s Weigh To Go programme, and Killie’s Walk & Talk. As well as the mental health benefits of participating and volunteering, Scott speaks openly about his own incredible weight-loss journey that took place at Rugby Park.
