Matchzone: Livingston (H)
It wasn’t pretty – but Kilmarnock picked up a vital late win against Livingston.
Marley Watkins slammed home a dramatic winner which sees the Ayrshire side stay fourth in the Scottish Premiership.
The first shot on goal came in the 13th minute when Steven Bradley’s effort landed comfortably in the gloves of Will Dennis.
Kyle Vassell tried his luck from distance but his curling shot couldn’t find the target.
In the 17th minute Tom Davies had a pop at goal as the ball fell perfectly to him on the edge of the box, but his powerful volley was blocked well by the Livi defence.
Bradley whipped a teasing free-kick into the area and it was Michael Nottingham who jumped highest, his header was on target but Dennis was alert to catch the effort.
Stuart Findlay fired a nice cross into the area in the 35th minute, Danny Armstrong was closest to getting it but he couldn’t quite catch it on his boot at the back post as it was knocked out for a corner.
Former Killie winger Daniel Mackay had the ball in the net in the 39th minute, but the linesman’s flag came to Killie’s rescue as it was ruled offside.
Tete Yengi almost fired the visitors in front right before half-time, but he fired wide after being one-on-one.
Derek McInnes was clearly unhappy with how things were looking at half-time as he made a double change with David Watson and Tom Davies making way for Liam Polworth and Matty Kennedy.
Kennedy almost made an instant impact with a shot from distance that almost crept it, it was blocked out for a corner.
Liam Donnelly forced Shamal George into a great save just before the hour mark as his glancing header was goal-bound.
Dennis was then called into action as Mackay fired a powerful shot at goal, the Killie No 1 got down well to keep it out.
McInnes then made a triple change in the 70th minute with Kyle Vassell, Danny Armstrong and Greg Stewart making way for Kevin Van Veen, Fraser Murray and Rory McKenzie.
Mo Sangare had a great chance in the 76th minute after being laid off by Andrew Shinnie, but he fizzed his shot over the crossbar.
Watkins forced George into another good save up the other end as his header almost found a way in at the near post.
The Welshman was then the hero in the 89th minute as he poked him a Van Veen knock-down.
