Matchzone: St Johnstone (H)

Kilmarnock Women battled to an important 3-1 victory at home to St Johnstone on Sunday.

The Ayrshire side propelled themselves to second-place in SWPL2 after the top two, Boroughmuir Thistle and Queen’s Park, shared a draw.

Jordan McLintock opened the scoring 10 minutes before half-time to send the hosts into the break lead 1-0.

Then 10 minutes after the second half kicked off it was two thanks to Dionne Brown.

Cowan of St Johnstone then pulled one back in the 80th minutes to set up a nervy end, but it wasn’t nervy for long as Georgina McTear restored the two-goal lead five minutes from time.

The victory sets up an exciting clash away to third-place Livingston next Sunday with just one point between the teams.
