Wright place, Wright time: Joe signs new deal

Kilmarnock Football Club have agreed a two-year contract extension with Joe Wright who has committed his future to the club until 2025.

The 28-year-old centre-back has become an influential figure for Derek McInnes’ side since joining at the start of the season, making 30 league appearances and scoring five goals in the process.

The former Wales youth international was also handed the captain’s armband for the club’s cinch Premiership match against Aberdeen earlier this month.

Speaking about his new deal, Joe Wright said: “After a period out of the game, I knew that my next move was going to be an important one and it quickly became clear that joining Kilmarnock is the best decision I could possibly have made.

“It felt like a brave decision to move up North at the time, but I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, fans and boys in the dressing room who made it easy to seamlessly settle in.

“As I’ve said before, working under the gaffer has been an absolute pleasure and I know that the way he operates will continue to get the best out of me, so I’ve been desperate to extend my stay here for a while.”
