Watson: ‘Teammates made first-team transition seamless’
David Watson reflects on his step up to first-team football as a “great experience”, while highlighting the support of his teammates as a main reason for his quick transition from the academy setup.
Speaking to media on Friday, the 18-year-old said: “It’s been a great experience and I’ve learnt a lot since my debut. I think I’ve improved in certain areas and it has been really good.
“They (teammates) have taught me to be a bit smarter. As a young player, it’s probably more off the ball; I’m quite excitable and like to go press players and they help to reign me in at times. Especially Stu (Stuart Findlay) at the back and Vass (Kyle Vassell) is good to link up with.
“Everybody has been good with me to be fair. All of the boys give me good advice and they’ve made it so much easier for me.
“The manager has been brilliant. He put faith in me to start and keeps on trusting me to go and play. It takes a lot of responsibility to do that.”
