U18s Report: Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangers

A spirited and disciplined Killie display wasn’t quite enough as our U18s went down 2-0 at home to Rangers.

Fresh from his first team bow, David Watson captained the side against the young ‘Gers, who claimed victory thanks to goals from Tyler Pasnik and Rory Wilson.

In what was an even contest, Pasnik found space to fire high into the net past George O’Connor in the home goal.

Killie’s reaction was encouraging as Bobby Wales tried his luck from distance and while his effort was well struck, it sailed narrowly over the bar.

Harvey Gilmour went into the book for halting a Rangers counter attack as Craig Clark’s team competed with their opponents throughout the 90 minutes.

Lyall Holding’s ability to switch play from his centre back role was a key feature of Kilmarnock’s attacking play with Kian Leslie unfortunate not to hit the target.

O’Connor saved well from Mackenzie Strachan but he could do nothing in the final minutes as Rory Wilson added a second goal for the visitors.

Killie XI: George O’Connor, Max Conway (Ben Brannan), Joe Spencer, Lyall Holding, David Watson, Harvey Gilmour (Matthew Hoffin), Cameron Mulvanney (Nathan Smith), Aiden McAuley, Aaron Brown (Shaun Kennedy), Bobby Wales (Jamie Kirkpatrick), Kian Leslie
