Club’s Charity Celebrated at Match v Livingston

Kilmarnock FC’s victory over Livingston capped off a successful Killie Community week, celebrating the work of the club’s official charity, and the power of football to bring people together.

Taking place alongside World Down Syndrome Day, the matchday placed a strong focus on inclusion, with young people and families from across Ayrshire at the heart of the occasion.

More than 600 people attended their first ever football match in the Moffat Stand, adding to the atmosphere and creating a memorable experience for those visiting Rugby Park for the first time.

Ahead of kick-off, twelve young mascots led the teams onto the pitch, eleven of whom with Down Syndrome, and one helpful big sister, marking a proud and inclusive moment as part of the day’s celebrations.

At half-time, five lucky participants from across The Killie Community’s programmes took part in a penalty shoot-out against Captain Conker, providing a unique moment of entertainment that was met with rapturous applause from supporters, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for those involved.

Moffat Stand go-ers arriving early also enjoyed activities on The Killie Community Pitch, which offered free football and multi-sport opportunities for young people and families.

The generosity of Kilmarnock supporters was evident throughout the day, with over 400 Easter eggs donated via Killie Foodbanks for local children and families, and more than £1,400 raised through a matchday raffle in support of The Killie Community programmes.

The Killie Community, Kilmarnock FC’s charity, delivers a wide range of initiatives across Ayrshire focused on sport, education, health and wellbeing, supporting thousands of people each year.

Jordan Allison, Head of Charity at The Killie Community, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in making the day such a success. We’re particularly thankful to the Killie support for the way they embraced the day, cheering on the mascots and our participants and helping create such a brilliant atmosphere inside Rugby Park.

“The support from Kilmarnock FC allows us to reach people right across Ayrshire, and days like this help shine a light on the work that goes on every day of the year. We’d encourage anyone who wants to find out more about The Killie Community, or get involved in our programmes, to get in touch.”

The club would like to thank all supporters, participants, volunteers and staff who contributed to a memorable and impactful awareness matchday.
