New recruits set to bolster backroom operations

Kilmarnock FC are pleased to welcome a band of new recruits who will bolster backroom operations at the club, which will be led by Phyllis McLeish who has assumed the role of Managing Director.

As Managing Director, Phyllis will play a hands-on role across the club’s backroom and football operations, having oversaw development of the club’s commercial and financial activities since joining as a Director in 2018. She will be supported on day-to-day activities by new General Manager, Gregg McEwan, who moves across from his former position as Head of Marketing & Commercial Operations.

In the football operations department, Russ Richardson has been appointed as Recruitment Manager and will reunite with Derek McInnes who he worked closely with at both Bristol City FC and Aberdeen FC. Joining from Liverpool FC’s scouting team, Russ will now turn his attention to enhancing the recruitment process.

Also re-joining Derek McInnes is new Senior Analyst, Greig Thomson, who will utilise a wealth of experience as an Analyst with the Scottish Football Association and as Aberdeen FC’s former Head of Performance Analysis.

Liam McDaid has been welcomed to our football administration team, working alongside Club Secretary Karen Costello. Liam brings a wealth of club side and governing body experience to the team.

Marking the end of the recruitment window, Andrew Fitzsimmons joins as Marketing and Media Co-ordinator, bringing a depth of sports marketing experience from his previous position as Sports PR Account Manager at Glasgow-based agency Frame.

Manager, Derek McInnes, commented: “I’m delighted that the club have supported me in addressing key positions within the football operations department. Having worked closely with Russ over a 10-year period, I know him as a very dependable member of staff who I’ll rely on heavily.

“All of the additions will be of great benefit to the club and, as an already very close-knit team, I’m sure we’ll continue to become more effective as the season progresses.”

Kilmarnock FC’s Managing Director, Phyllis McLeish, added: “As a club, we’re always striving to strengthen both on and off the pitch so it gives us great pleasure to welcome new members of the team who will improve multiple areas of our backroom activity. Alongside Billy and Cathy, I look forward to working closely with our growing team as we continue to evolve operations and enhance our performance as an organisation.”
