Moffat Stand mural
Kilmarnock Football Club is thrilled to announce the installation of our brand-new mural display, which honours our wonderful supporters.
The bespoke signage has been erected at the entrance to the Moffat Stand, and represents the names of fans who formed part of the old brick wall which surrounded this section of the ground.
The mural, constructed from black composite aluminium and fitted to upright posts, was placed on the concrete foundations on Wednesday, April 29. The main message reads: ‘Thank you to our supporters,’ alongside the club crest badge and significant moments in our history, such as the league title triumph in 1965 and 2012 League Cup victory.
The brick wall was removed last summer as part of regeneration works at BBSP Stadium Rugby Park. This saw the introduction of our nine-a-side community pitch, which benefits both the club’s academy and women’s players, as well as different demographics within the local area.
The club recognised that supporters were keen to see a tribute reinstated to those names who had bought bricks. While it’s appreciated this has taken longer than intended to carry out, we hope our supporters will be pleased with the result. We look forward to seeing fans view the installation at our next home match against Dundee United on Saturday, May 2.
Gregg McEwan, general manager of Kilmarnock FC, said: “From the outset, it was important to us that this was done properly. Rather than rushing something into place, we’ve taken the time to deliver a permanent installation that is a fitting and respectful tribute to those included.
“The display has now been produced and will be installed at the entrance to the Moffat Stand. Some additional groundworks and recent weather have impacted timings, but I’m delighted to say the foundations are now set and the installation will be in place for the Dundee United match on Saturday, May 2.
“We are grateful for your patience and look forward to sharing the finished installation with you shortly.”
Alongside this, the club will also introduce a searchable version on the club’s website so supporters can easily find their own name or those of loved ones.
There is a contingency allocated for anyone who may have been missed during the checks of the old wall, which were carried out prior to its demolition. Please contact the ticketing department for further investigation.
