McInnes: ‘I want to win a cup’

Derek McInnes has reiterated that winning a trophy and pushing for European spots remains his ultimate ambition for the club, having reflected on his first two seasons in charge.

Speaking at the club’s pre-season camp in Belfast on Friday afternoon, the manager stated: “I want to win a cup and I want to be in Europe, that’s the ultimate ambition.

“Words are cheap and it’s easy to say what you want to do. It’s what you do on and off the pitch that’s the most important thing. It’s important first and foremost that we are a Premiership club again, but I think we’ve got to try and look beyond that. I don’t see why we can’t win a cup, and I don’t see why we can’t be pushing for European spots. That’s what the objective will hopefully be this season.”

The manager also discussed a number of other topics including recruitment, season reflections and pre-season progress. You can watch the full interview – HERE.
