Matchzone: St Mirren A

Kilmarnock’s fantastic form continued in the perfect way with a valuable three points in Paisley.

It’s now five unbeaten for the Ayrshire side who remain fourth in the Scottish Premiership with 13 points from the last available 15.

Derek McInnes made one change from Saturday’s win at home to St Johnstone as Matty Kennedy replaced Liam Polworth.

Richard Taylor had the first shot on target as he blasted an effort towards goal, but Will Dennis was equal to it as he held on well.

St Mirren had the ball in the net after 14 minutes as Olutoysi Olusanya knocked it over Dennis, but the goal was disallowed for an offside in the build-up.

Danny Armstrong tried his luck in the 22nd minute as he shot from 20 yards, but it sailed over the crossbar.

Three minutes later the visitors were in front as Kennedy slipped a fine ball through to Watkins who made no mistake in slamming home.

Will Dennis was called into action twice three minutes before half-time as he parried away a shot before reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the box.

Dennis was again equal to a shot from former Killie attacker Greg Kiltie who fired an effort at goal just after the hour mark.

Conor McMenamin went close after 67 minutes as he blasted a shot across the face of the goal, thankfully for the visitors it went wide of the target.

Derek McInnes made two changes with 15 minutes to go as Rory McKenzie and Andrew Dallas replaced Matty Kennedy and goalscorer Watkins.

Corrie Ndaba then made an incredible tackle which stopped a shot at goal, before Dennis made a fantastic save seconds later.

Killie had three bites at the cherry as Brad Lyons saw his shot blocked off the line before an effort from Stuart Findlay was blocked, as was a stunning volley by McKenzie.
