Matchzone: Dundee United


Kilmarnock Women put in an incredible effort in their bid for promotion, but ultimately came up narrowly short.

The Ayrshire side travelled to Falkirk to take on Dundee United with the winner sealing a spot in next season’s SWPL top flight.

Ellie Currie made an important save after six minutes for Killie as United’s Brodie Greenwood was closing in on goal.

Currie then pulled off a big save in the 21st minute from a powerful Morgan Steedman shot.

Abby Robinson had a great chance on the half-hour mark as she worked into the area, but she couldn’t quite keep her effort down.

A couple of minutes later it was another huge save from Currie as Steedman again tried her luck from close range.

Robinson then grabbed the lead for Killie with a stunning 20 yard strike with the last kick of the first half.

Georgie Robb fired a fantastic strike into the back of the net in the 56th minute to level the scores.

In the 73rd minute United scored the decisive goal as Greenwood turned an effort home from close range.
