Matchzone: Dundee (H)

Kilmarnock were dealt a late blow in their clash with Dundee as the Rugby Park side saw victory slip away in the dying seconds.

It was a valiant late comeback from the Ayrshire side as late goals from Joe Wright and Rory McKenzie turned the game on its head after a Luke McCowan opener.

Joe Shaugnessy then snatched a point for Tony Docherty’s side with a last-gasp header in the 96th minute.

Kyle Vassell fired a well-struck volley towards goal after just a few minutes but it was straight at Trevor Carson who comfortably held on.

Chances were at a premium as the clock ticked past the half-hour mark with little to trouble either goalkeeper.

In the 35th minute the visitors fired themselves ahead thanks to McCowan who curled home a fine effort which left Will Dennis helpless.

McCowan almost created a second for Dundee early in the second half as he fizzed a pass into Amadou Bakayoko, but the No 9 couldn’t get his boot on the ball.

Josh Mulligan attempted to break through on goal in the 50th minute but Lewis Mayo held him off well before Dennis collected the loose ball.

Wright went incredibly close to equalising for the hosts, but his header from a corner smacked off the post.

The ball fell to Stuart Findlay in the 71st minute but his volley dipped over the crossbar, leaving Carson untroubled.

Matty Kennedy cut inside in the 75th minute as he attempted to curl a shot in, but it was well blocked by the Dee defence.

In the 86th minute Wright did find the equaliser as he headed home following a Gary Mackay-Steven corner.

McKenzie then thought he’d gave Killie all three points in stunning fashion as he slammed home from close range three minutes into stoppage-time, sending the Rugby Park faithful wild.

Then in heart-breaking fashion, the visitors snatched a point with the last hit of the ball as Shaughnessy fired home an equaliser.
