Matchday Guide | Dundee United (H)

There’s been time for a brief trip to Europe, relegation and a promotion since our last journey to Hampden Park. Ten years on from that afternoon in Mount Florida where Hooky, Fow, Pasca et al. lifted the League Cup, we’re now only 90 minutes away from a return to the national stadium.

Standing in our way are Dundee United who will travel to Ayrshire for a 7.45pm kick-off at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park. The tie will be played to a conclusion and decided by extra-time and penalties if necessary.

Comments from the camp

Speaking after Saturday’s draw with St Mirren, Derek McInnes said: “I’ve spoken often enough about having that added benefit of the support getting right behind the team. The players have always responded to it in my time here. We know it is a big step for us to try and get to Hampden, and we want to go and take that step forward. I want the players and the supporters to familiarise themselves with Hampden and be there year in, year out.”

Ahead of the tie, captain Alan Power joined Monty on a trip down memory lane in the Killie Museum. Speaking about the prospect of a trip to Hampden, Alan commented: “If we can give the fans something to really scream about, get to Hampden and get everybody on their feet with the place rocking, it will be amazing.”
