Matchday Guide | Dundee United (A)

Kilmarnock will make the 2-hour coach trip to Tannadice Park on Wednesday evening as Derek McInnes prepares the side for a final away match before the World Cup break.

A 2-1 victory sent Kilmarnock on the road to Hampden Park when the teams last met in October. Focus has now firmly been placed back on the league campaign, with the clubs currently separated in the bottom six by a mere three points, which will be up for grabs on Wednesday evening.

Thoughts from the camp

Christian Doidge is back in contention for the fixture, but Calum Waters and Ben Chrisene remain on the treatment table. Scott Robinson’s recovery is continuing to progress well and he is expected to push for selection after the World Cup break.

Speaking on Monday, Derek McInnes said: “Going into the World Cup break, we want to feel good about ourselves and be in a stronger position, and the two games give us opportunities to do exactly that. The first one is against a team who will think that they can rein us in with an opportunity to beat us at home. We’ll try to treat it as a cup tie as we did when we played a few weeks ago. We don’t knock Dundee United out, but we can certainly keep them below us and that’s got to be our intention when we leave Tannadice.”
