Match report: Kilmarnock 4-0 Aberdeen
It was a Boxing Day bonanza at BBSP Rugby Park as Kilmarnock defeated Aberdeen 4-0.
Kyle Vassell and David Watson ensured a late present was delivered to KA1, and it’s a victory that propels the Ayrshire side within three points of the top-six.
Derek McInnes made three changes from the starting lineup at Motherwell, as Kieran O’Hara, Marley Watkins and Bruce Anderson made way for Robby McCrorie, Danny Armstrong and Bobby Wales.
Bobby Wales went close with a header as he jumped highest from a Danny Armstrong corner in the 6thminute, he fired narrowly over.
Joe Wright had a good chance after 13 minutes as he fired a shot on target, but it was cleared off the line by the Dons defence.
Captain Vassell slotted home the opener from close range 18 minutes in as the home crowd erupted.
Armstrong tried his luck in the 42nd with a shot from distance, he couldn’t quite keep it down though as it flew over the crossbar.
Wales was slipped through on goal just before half-time, he attempted to go round Mitov, he did well to then get a shot away but the Aberdeen defence ensured it went wide.
Nicky Devlin looked to level for the visitors as he fired a shot at goal after 55 minutes, Robby McCrorie did well to keep it out.
Straight up the other end Fraser Murray had a good curling effort, it was well saved by Mitov though.
Watson made it two with an inch-perfect run as he met Armstrong’s cross just before the hour mark, he slotted well past Mitov.
Substitute Cameron then fired home a fine lobbed effort to make it 3-0 in the 87th minute – and it was immediately followed by a fourth from Anderson who also came off the bench and poked home in stoppage-time.
