Match report: Kilmarnock 2-0 Hibernian (Under 18s)

Kilmarnock’s Under 18s secured a fantastic 2-0 victory against Hibernian at Rugby Park.

Reuben Cooper had an early chance after great work by Cole Burke who slipped him in after 3 minutes, Cooper couldn’t keep his effort on target though.

Killie took the lead after 9 minutes as a well worked attack saw a cross bundled into the net by Shay McKeown.

Burke had a chance of his own just before the half-hour mark, he had a free header from a corner but his effort was saved well by Ryan Mallon.

Grant Marchant then tried his luck from distance, his shot was blocked out for a corner though.

Five minutes into the second half Jamie McMurdo had a chance to equalise for Hibs from a free-kick 20 yards out, his low drilled effort was well saved by Ben Coutts.

Killie’s lead was doubled in the 74th minute as substitute Samuel Duruh had a couple of cracks at goal blocked, eventually it fell to Archie Traynor who was happy to smash home.

Callum MacDonald had a great chance to pull one back for Hibs, his low shot was finely stopped by Coutts who got down to his right to tip it away.
