Match report: Darvel 1-2 Kilmarnock (Reserves)

A young Kilmarnock Reserve side picked up a comeback victory away to Darvel in a friendly.

Bobby Wales, the most senior Killie player on the night, led by example with the captain’s armband by scoring both goals in the 2-1 win.

Darvel found themselves in front after just a minute when Jonny Black fired home from close range after a low cross.

Cole Burke worked hard towards the box before firing a shot a goal after 7 minutes, Darvel goalkeeper Andrew Wilson was equal to it and stopped well.

Aaron Black had a good chance for the hosts after 20 minutes as he played a nice one-two, his shot was well saved by Corey Armour in the Killie goal.

Bobby Wales had a decent opportunity after fine work in the middle of the park, he fizzed a low shot from 20 yards in the 23rd minute but saw it go narrowly wide.

Darvel looked sure to score in the 35th minute, but Euan Bowie was the saviour as he headed off the line expertly.

Wales then bagged his brace just before the hour mark with a powerful finish
