Match report: Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic

Kilmarnock fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Celtic.

Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn were on the scoresheet as the Glasgow side picked up the three points.

Derek McInnes made three changes to the side from Dens Park, with Stuart Findlay, Danny Armstrong and Bruce Anderson making way for Joe Wright, Liam Donnelly and Marley Watkins.

Corrie Ndaba tested Kasper Schmeichel in the 15th minute as he fired a long shot at goal – the Danish international stopped it well down low.

Callum McGregor had a powerful shot from 20 yards after 26 minutes, it looked to be flying in until Robby McCrorie dived well to save the effort and tip it out for a corner.

Adam Idah was next to test McCrorie a couple of minutes later with a low strike – again the Killie goalkeeper saved well as he got down low to hold it.

Marley Watkins went incredibly close to scoring in the 37th minute as he was slipped through on goal by Liam Donnelly – the striker then chipped it over Schmeichel before agonisingly see it hit the post.

Kyle Vassell had a chance after 42 minutes when he did well to turn and get a shot away – it was heading towards goal until Austin Trusty did well to block it out for a corner.

Celtic then got themselves ahead with practically the last kick of the first half as McGregor’s floated ball into the box eluded McCrorie – who thought Idah was going to get a touch – and ended up in the back of the net.

Nicolas Kuhn looked sure to score on the hour mark – he was one-on-one with McCrorie – but the Killie goalkeeper came out on top with a fantastic save.

Innes Cameron had a chance up the other end almost instantly – his powerful shot was well saved by Schmeichel.

Great work from Matty Kennedy in the 65th minute as he stole the ball of the Celtic defence, he worked into the box and looked sure to score, but a great save from Schmeichel denied him.

Kuhn doubled Celtic’s lead after a nice run down the wing before cutting in and slotting past McCrorie.
