Match report: Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock suffered a sickening late defeat away to Aberdeen this afternoon.
Oday Dabbagh grabbed a late goal to seal all three points for the Dons after a spirited Killie performance which deserved at least a point.
Derek McInnes made one change from the starting XI that defeated St Johnstone 3-1 as Kyle Magennis was rested, he was replaced by Liam Donnelly.
Liam Donnelly had a chance after 10 minutes as the ball fell to him on the edge of the box after a corner – but he couldn’t keep his effort down as he watched it fly over the crossbar.
Corrie Ndaba then led a positive attack – he worked through the defence before firing a shot away – it was well saved by Dimitar Mitov though.
Brad Lyons was next to have a shot on goal – in the 21st minute his long-range had to be tipped out for a corner by Mitov.
From the resulting set-piece, Ndaba flicked an effort high, it was held by Mitov though.
Killie thought the had the perfect chance to go ahead when Nick Walsh pointed to the spot after Liam Donnelly appeared to be fouled – but the referee overturned the penalty after a VAR check.
Immediately up the other end a decision went in Killie’s favour as Jeppe Okkels scored a curling effort, but VAR ruled that there was an offside in the build-up.
Topi Keskinen was through on goal in the 55th minute and fired a powerful shot at goal, but Kieran O’Hara did well to pull off a good save.
Kevin Nisbet looked sure to grab the opener after 84 minutes as his low shot seemed to be heading into the bottom corner, but the post came to Killie’s rescue.
Marley Watkins had a good chance in the 89th minute as he worked down the wing before cutting in, his low shot was well saved by Mitov.
Aberdeen grabbed a late winner as Oday Dabbagh fired home from close range after a corner.
