Match Preview: St Mirren (H)
Scottish Premiership – Matchday 26
Wednesday 11th – February – 7:45pm | BBSP Stadium Rugby Park , Kilmarnock
Last Time Out: Killie
Kilmarnock endured a frustrating night in Glasgow as they fell to defeat against Rangers, with the game turning early after Dom Thompson was dismissed and James Tavernier converted the resulting penalty. Despite the setback, Killie showed moments of promise, most notably when Bruce Anderson went close in the first half, but we were unable to make it count. Rangers extended their lead after the breakthrough Bojan Miovski and Andreas Skov Olsen, before Greg Kiltie offered a late bright spot by capitalising on a Jack Butland error to pull one back. Any hopes of a comeback were ended late on, however, as the hosts added two further goals in the closing stages to seal the result.
Last Time Out: St Mirren
St Mirren booked their place in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup quarter-finals with a hard-fought extra-time victory over Airdrieonians at the Albert Bartlett Stadium, needing a late intervention to finally see off stubborn opposition. Stephen Robinson’s side took the lead through a stunning first St Mirren goal from Jacob Devaney in the first half but were pegged back after the break as Airdie levelled to force extra-time. The Buddies pushed on in the additional period and were rewarded four minutes from the end when substitute Roland Idowu fired home the winner, ensuring Saints reached the last eight for the first time since 2022.
