Match preview: Rangers (H)

William Hill Scottish Premiership – Matchday 16

Saturday 6th – December – 8:00pm | BBSP Stadium Rugby Park, Kilmarnock

Last Time Out: Killie

Killie picked up a hard-earned point on the road as Bruce Anderson’s last-minute equaliser rewarded a gritty team performance against league leaders Hearts.

The hosts took the lead midway through the first half through Lawrence Shankland, but Stuart Kettlewell’s side responded exactly as the manager demands – staying organised, disciplined and patient while growing stronger as the match progressed.

Killie continued to ask questions of the hosts, pushing the game deeper into Hearts territory and refusing to let the contest slip away. That belief paid off in the 90th minute when Liam Polworth’s powerful effort forced a save from Alexander Schwolow, and Anderson reacted superbly to fire home the rebound in front of the jubilant travelling support.

Last Time Out: Rangers

Rangers fought back to earn a 2-2 draw at Tannadice after a dramatic late penalty from Nedim Bajrami. Dundee United took the lead through Zachary Sapsford, who picked up the ball in his own half and finished smartly past Jack Butland. Rangers responded with a stunning long-range strike from Jayden Meghoma, his first senior goal, to level the scores.

The home side regained the advantage midway through the second half with Amar Fatah finishing a well-worked move. Rangers continued to press and create chances, with Danilo, Gassama, and Meghoma all coming close, including a remarkable overhead kick from Danilo that struck the crossbar. In the final moments, Rangers were awarded a penalty after Max Aarons was fouled, and Bajrami converted to ensure the match finished all square.
