Match Preview: Aberdeen (H)

Scottish Premiership – Round 24

Saturday 31st – January – 3:00pm | BBSP Stadium Rugby Park, Kilmarnock

Last Time Out: Killie

Kilmarnock were left disappointed as they suffered a 4–0 defeat away to Motherwell. Killie made a bright start and thought they had taken the lead when Liam Polworth finished calmly after a clever pass from Tyreece John-Jules, but the goal was ruled out for a narrow offside following a VAR check. Motherwell opened the scoring midway through the first half, before John-Jules came close to equalising when his header struck the crossbar. The match swung just before the interval as Killie were reduced to ten men, and the hosts added a second soon after. Despite the setback, Killie continued to compete, but further goals in the second half sealed the result on a difficult afternoon.

Last Time Out: Aberdeen

Aberdeen were involved in a dramatic afternoon at Pittodrie as they ran out 6–2 winners over Livingston in testing conditions of heavy rain and strong winds. The Dons made a fast start and took an early lead through Kenan Bilalovic, before a Kevin Nisbet goal was ruled out following a VAR review. Livingston responded with two quick goals either side of the half-hour to turn the game around, but Aberdeen regained control before the break as Nisbet struck twice in stoppage time to make it 3–2 at half-time. The second half saw plenty of incident, including a red card for Livingston manager David Martindale and a sending off for a player from each side following a confrontation. Aberdeen added further goals through Sivert Heltne Nilsen and two from Topi Keskinen to round off a high-scoring win.
