Match Preview: Aberdeen (H)

William Hill Scottish Premiership – Matchday 17

Sunday 14th – December – 3:00pm | Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen

Last Time Out: Killie

Killie slipped to a 3–0 defeat at home to Rangers on a tough afternoon in Ayrshire. Marcus Dackers came closest to giving Killie an early lead with a well-placed header that drifted just over the bar after 12 minutes, but the hosts were punished when Rangers opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark. A second from Bojan Miovski early in the second half left Killie with an uphill task, and manager Stuart Kettlewell’s dismissal on 72 minutes added to the frustration. Mikey Moore’s late strike sealed the result, leaving Killie disappointed after a spirited start that ultimately went unrewarded.

Last Time Out: Aberdeen

Aberdeen’s European run came to an end after a committed display against group leaders Strasbourg, who made the most of their chances on a night the Dons were left to rue missed opportunities and a first-half VAR call. Aberdeen started brightly in difficult conditions and had a Knoester header ruled out before Strasbourg went ahead through Godo on the counter. Mitov kept the Dons in it with a series of excellent saves, including from the spot in the second half, while Aberdeen pushed hard with attacking changes as they chased a way back into the game. Despite late pressure and a couple of frantic scrambles in the Strasbourg box, the equaliser wouldn’t come, and the visitors saw out the closing stages to end Aberdeen’s hopes of progressing.
