A strong Kilmarnock side progressed to the final of the cinch SPFL Reserve Cup following a 4-1 victory against Dundee United at The BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park on Tuesday 14th March 2023.

The hosts opened the scoring with two minutes on the clock when Jordan Jones’ cross was bundled in at the second attempt by Brad Lyons whose initial strike came off the underside of the crossbar.

Bobby Wales gave Killie a two-goal advantage five minutes later after an exchange with Blair Alston resulted in the ball landing in his path around 12 yards from goal. The young striker calmly slotted past the keeper to place one foot in the final.

Chris Stokes rose the highest to connect with a corner which put Paul Sheerin’s side three ahead with just over a quarter of an hour played.

Fraser Murray scored the pick of the bunch on the half-hour mark when he capitalised through an overhead kick after United failed to clear their lines from a corner.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Domeracki with 10 minutes to play, before being reduced to 10 men moments later as Bertie picked up a second yellow card.

Kilmarnock saw out the game to progress into the final of the competition where they will challenge Dunfermline Athletic, with match details to be confirmed in due course.
