Loan watch: Penalty hero and solid performances
A number of our younger players are out on loan across Scotland, here’s how they got on this week.
Aidan Glavin stole all the headlines this week after saving a remarkable five penalties in Elgin City’s Scottish Cup shootout win against Clyde – following up his penalty save in extra-time. If that wasn’t enough he also SCORED a penalty of his own in the shootout. Pic credit: Robert Crombie/Elgin City FC.
Kian Leslie also played his part in the success as he played 120 minutes before scoring a penalty of his own.
Elgin have been drawn at home to Kelty Hearts in the third-round of the Scottish Cup.
Also having Scottish Cup success was Ruari Ellis, who joined Lowland League side Broxburn Athletic on loan as a late addition ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup match away to Auchinleck Talbot. He came on as a late substitute in the 1-0 victory. That result meant Corey Armour was on the losing side of the result, and Andrew Miller who was an unused sub. Ellis and his Broxburn team-mates face a trip to Stranraer in the next round.
Ethan Brown played 90 minutes for the 5th week in a row with Dumbarton in League One – and they picked up their 2nd consecutive victory. Following up their 3-1 win away to Arbroath last week, the Sons defeated Inverness 3-1 on Saturday. Despite a rocky start to the season and staying in second-bottom, Dumbarton are now just four points from the play-off spots and five behind league leaders Cove Rangers.
Dylan Brown started on the bench for Kilwinning Rangers away to Maybole, but after 36 minutes he replaced Mateusz Miller in between the sticks whilst the Buffs were 2-1 down. The North Ayrshire side fought back to draw 3-3 at Ladywell Park.
Lewis Mackle’s Hurlford United drew 2-2 in their Irvine Valley derby against Darvel at Recreation Park.
Not in matchday squad: Zander Craik
