Loan Watch: August 4th

A number of our younger players are out on loan across Scotland, here’s how they got on this week.

Goalkeeper Corey Armour started in Kelty Hearts’ opening league fixtures at home to Inverness. Unfortunately it was a disappointing result for our Premier Sports Cup group opponents as the Highland side ran out 3-0 winners at New Central Park. Montrose away is next up for Armour and his Kelty side.

Zander Craik was the only one of our Annan Atheltic quartet to start against Elgin City. Craik managed 56 minutes for the Galabank side before being replaced by player-manager – and former Kilmarnock winger – Wullie Gibson. It was a dramatic victory for Annan who conceded an equaliser in the 92nd minute before going up to score a winner in the 93rd. Annan head to Stirling Albion next.

Grant Marchant started away to Tranent for Albion Rovers in their 4-0 defeat, securing 90 minutes on the pitch. Samuel Duruh came on as a substitute in the 69th minute. Marchant also played 90 minutes in their 2-1 win against East Stirlingshire during the week, setting up the first goal. Next up for Albion is a home clash against Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Logan Burgess started for Kilwinning Rangers in their trip to Troon in the West of Scotland League Premier Division. It was a tough afternoon at Portland Park for Kevin Kelly’s side as the Seasiders ran out 6-1 winners, the Buffs host Cumnock on Saturday.

Michael Mullen started for Girvan in their West of Scotland League Third Division clash at home to Knightswood after recently joining them on loan. The visitors secured a 1-0 victory despite a positive performance from the South Ayrshire side, Mullen and his Girvan teammates travel to Ardeer Thistle next week.

Unused subs: Dylan Brown (Auchinleck Talbot), Josh Gilmour (Annan Athletic), Jack Allan (Annan Athletic), Duncan Barlow (Annan Atheltic), Cole Burke (Queen of the South)
