Livingston 1 Kilmarnock 4
Kilmarnock rounded off the 2025/26 season with a comfortable victory in Livingston.
Joe Hugill, Nicky Cleșcenco and Findlay Curtis scored the goals as Ayrshire’s finest made it four wins in a row for the first time since 2018.
Neil McCann named a strong starting XI for the final match of the campaign, with Bruce Anderson dropping to the bench, as Cleșcenco was restored to the team. There was also notable inclusion among the substitutes for Ethan Brown and Euan Bowie, who made his debut during the latter stages.
After an uneventful start top the game, which very much had an end-of-season feel about it, Michael Schjønning-Larsen fashioned the first scoring opportunity for the visitors. He latched onto a fantastic long ball by Max Stryjek high on the right channel. He cut inside well, beating his marker to get a shot away, but the full-back couldn’t keep his effort down, as the ball sailed narrowly over the bar.
However, on 19 minutes, the hosts found the net through May, who made no mistake when afforded too much time and space inside the box.
Just five minutes later though, Killie levelled. Tom Lowery picked Dominic Thompson out with a terrific pass to match an impressive burst up the left wing by the defender. His cross was met by Hugill, who continued his sensational goalscoring form to make it seven for the campaign.
Killie then took a deserved lead as Cleșcenco bagged his first goal for the club with a composed finish. Greg Kiltie picked up the ball after a pass into midfield by Robbie Deas. He fed Cleșcenco in on the left. The Moldovan international dropped his shoulder, feigning to shoot with his left, to cut inside on his right foot and slam home for 2-1.
After the interval, Hugill burst down the right flank after being played in-behind by Kiltie. His low cross was met by Curtis, but a Livi defender put in a vital block to prevent another goal by the boys in blue and white.
It wasn’t long before it was three for Killie, though. Cleșcenco produced a silky turn to beat his marker on the left, which saw the winger earn time and space on the ball. He picked out Thompson, who had overlapped. He picked out Curtis with his cross, as his shot deflected high into the net.
It was quickly number four for Killie after Hugill reached a pacey through-ball by Deas. The striker was clean through on goal, and on current form, wasn’t going to miss.
While Killie were in total control, Stryjek had to produce two top-class saves to deny goals for May, Culbert and Zimmerman in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Killie celebrated a tremendous away day in front of 1,695 travelling supporters, who showed their appreciation at full-time.
