Kilmarnock Women Bolstered by New Additions
Kilmarnock Women are proud to announce that three of the club’s academy players have graduated to the first-team squad.
Mary Jackson, Louise Cowan and Kelsy Crainie have all been selected to make the permanent step up to senior football, having impressed for the under-18s throughout the season. The trio are the first three players to graduate from the newly formed academy, which is currently scouting for players to follow in the footsteps of those who have recently progressed through the ranks.
The first team-squad has also been strengthened by Kerri Halpin and Taylor Hamill who have joined the club on loan from Motherwell and Partick Thistle respectively.
Signing for the remainder of the season, young midfielder Halpin will strengthen Jim Chapman’s options in the middle of the park throughout the vital second stage of the campaign. Meanwhile, winger Hamill will add experience to the squad throughout a short-term deal.
The club would also like to wish the best of luck to Abbey McDowall, Kirsty O’Brien, Colette Truswell and Molly McLean who have departed Rugby Park. The playing and coaching staff would like to thank the players for their efforts during their time in Ayrshire.
Jim Chapman, Kilmarnock Women’s Manager, commented: “Mary, Louise and Kelsy’s progression from the academy marks another key milestone in the evolution of our club. The purpose of any academy is to produce players that can serve the first-team squad, and each of them have already slotted comfortably into the senior environment. As the new academy continues to develop, we aim to witness many more youngsters follow in their footsteps in coming years.”
