Kilmarnock 3-2 Dundee
Kilmarnock sealed their Scottish Premiership status for next season with a thrilling 3–2 victory over Dundee at BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park – a result that ensures safety with two games to spare.
In front of a vocal home crowd, Killie showed fight, character and quality, with goals from Danny Armstrong, Bruce Anderson and Robbie Deas securing a vital three points and sparking jubilant celebrations around the ground.
The match began at a high tempo, with Corrie Ndaba setting the tone early on. In the 7th minute, the defender powered into the box and teed up Bruce Anderson, who just couldn’t apply the finishing touch. Kieran O’Hara was then called into action at the other end, producing a strong save from a long-range effort by Simon Murray.
Killie’s pressure paid off on the half-hour mark when Danny Armstrong stepped up from the penalty spot and calmly slotted home to give us a deserved lead.
The second half continued in much the same vein. Ndaba remained a threat and went close himself five minutes after the restart. Stuart Findlay then had a golden opportunity from a free-kick delivery, but his header drifted just wide.
Dundee had a penalty appeal waved away following a VAR check after Simon Murray went to ground in the 66th minute, and just minutes later Fraser Murray came close to doubling our lead with a powerful strike from a tight angle.
The visitors pulled level on 75 minutes through Lyall Cameron, but Killie showed brilliant character to respond immediately. Two minutes later, Anderson rose highest to head home and restore our advantage.
As Dundee pushed forward in the closing stages, Rory McKenzie was slipped through on goal but dragged his shot narrowly wide. The crucial third goal came deep into added time as Robbie Deas headed in from a corner to make it 3–1, sending Rugby Park into raptures.
Although Cameron grabbed a second for Dundee in the 95th minute, it was too little, too late.
